3. How does Marvelon work?

   Marvelon prevents ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary), thickens the mucus of the cervix to hinder sperm penetration, and alters the lining of the womb to prevent egg implantation.

4. What are the possible side effects of Marvelon?

   Common side effects include nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, mood changes, and slight weight gain. Some women may experience increased blood pressure or a change in their blood sugar levels. Rarely, Marvelon can lead to more serious side effects like blood clots.

5. What should I do if I miss a pill?

   If you miss one pill, take it as soon as you remember and then continue taking the rest at the usual time (this may mean taking two pills in one day). If you miss more than one pill, or start a new pack one day late, your contraceptive protection may be reduced, and you should use additional contraception for 7 days.

6. Can I take Marvelon if I am breastfeeding?

   Marvelon is generally not recommended for use during breastfeeding. Other forms of contraception may be more suitable during this time.

7. How do I switch from another contraceptive to Marvelon?

   If switching from another combined oral contraceptive, you can start Marvelon the day after the last active tablet of your previous pill. If you’re switching from a progestogen-only pill, implant, or injection, follow your doctor’s instructions to ensure continuous contraceptive protection.

8. Can Marvelon affect my menstrual cycle?

   Yes, Marvelon can cause changes in your menstrual cycle, including lighter or skipped periods. Continuous use or back-to-back cycles can delay periods.
