No, Biktarvy does not cure HIV or AIDS. It is used to manage the condition by reducing the viral load to undetectable levels, improving immune function, and preventing the transmission of HIV through sexual contact.
Common side effects include diarrhea, headache, and nausea. Serious side effects may include worsening of hepatitis B, kidney problems, liver problems, lactic acidosis, and changes in the immune system.
Yes, there is a risk of HIV developing resistance to Biktarvy, particularly if doses are missed frequently. It’s crucial to adhere strictly to the prescribed regimen to avoid resistance.
Biktarvy should be taken once daily, with or without food. Consistency in the timing of the dose is important to maintain the effectiveness of the drug.
The safety of Biktarvy during pregnancy is not well established. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, discuss with your healthcare provider to understand the potential risks and benefits.
Alcohol may increase the risk of certain side effects of Biktarvy, such as liver problems and nausea. It’s best to discuss your alcohol consumption with your doctor.
Yes, Biktarvy can interact with other medications, including antacids, certain antibiotics, and anticonvulsants. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking to prevent potential interactions.

What is generic medication?
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, how it is taken, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name and works the same way in the body in the same amount of time.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is the generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (e.g. different shape or color), as trademark laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to invent a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name drug and sell it at substantial discounts.
