Humulin N KwikPen Drug Info (Pack With 5 Pens x 3 mL Each)

  • OVERVIEW

Humulin N KwikPens are pre-filled, disposable insulin pens designed to make it easier for you to inject your insulin doses. It is filled with Humulin-N, which is a brand name for NPH insulin, otherwise called insulin isophane. It is considered an intermediate-acting insulin which has a relatively slow onset and a long duration of action that lasts up to 24 hours.

  • HOW IT WORKS?

Humulin N contains insulin isophane, which is alsoo known as NPH insulin, which has been modified so that it can have a longer duration of action. It is classified as an intermediate-acting insulin and has a slower onset of action than Humulin R (about 90 minutes after injection) and a longer duration of effect that can last up to 24 hours. Intermediate-acting insulin is a background or basal insulin because it provides you with an entire day’s worth of blood sugar level control. Humulin-N is structurally identical to normal insulin but it has protamines, which are small proteins, mixed in to slow down its onset and expand its length of action to last the whole day.
